Wood, although beautiful and classic, is prone to rot and insect damage. However, pressure-treated and well-kept wood can be quite tough. Wood is also easier and cheaper to repair should damage occur and stands up better to direct impacts than vinyl.
Comparing fence durability can be tricky, as you’ll need to consider the types of stress your fence will be exposed to. If you live in a climate with lots of rain or harsh winters, you may want to consider a more weather-resistant building material. However, if you live in a busy area or need a fence for security reasons, a more impact-resistant material is probably right for you.
